Car manufacturer Rolls Royce will be today unveiling the ultimate luxury eco-friendly car – their green Rolls Royce Phantom.

The new Phantom offers zero emissions motoring, and is said to cost just 2p a mile to run compared to 40p per mile for a standard Phantom. However the initial price tag may be slightly prohibitive at £1 million compared to £300,000 for a petrol Phantom.

The green Rolls Royce Phantom offers a wealth of interesting technology – including wireless recharging when the electric Rolls drives over a special electric pad in the garage. It also currently has the world’s biggest car battery fitted and has a 0-60mph time of just eight seconds with a top speed artificially limited to 100mph.

Charge time is said to be 20 hours on a domestic mains, or just eight hours on an industrial booster. Range off a single charge is 125 miles and the batteries are predicted to last for three years if used and recharged daily.
