Checkout Spy loves Christmas tree decorations! Different decorations can make your tree stylish, fun or child-friendly. Here are our top 10 ways to decorate your Christmas tree this year:

1. Christmas Tree Lights
Lights are probably the most popular Christmas tree decoration around – and there are plenty of different styles and colours to choose from. No Christmas celebration would be complete without some form of Christmas lighting!

2. Tinsel
Tinsel is a staple of Christmas tree decorations. Available in every colour of the rainbow and in a range of sizes, tinsel can match up with any Christmas tree colour theme you want.

3. Beads
Some people just aren’t keen on tinsel and beads are an excellent alternative. Mock pearls are probably the most popular beads to hang on Christmas trees however beads come in a wide range of colours, sizes and styles so there’s sure to be something to suit your needs. If you can’t find the right colours for your Christmas tree, take a look at your local craft shop and build your own bead decorations.

4. Ribbons
Ribbons are another alternative to tinsel, although they can be used in conjunction with either tinsel or beads to produce a lovely stylish effect. Red ribbon bows are also popular around Christmas. To make your tree decorations extra stylish, match the ribbons on your Christmas tree to the bows and ribbon used on the gifts under the tree.

5. Gingerbread Biscuits
Gingerbread is lovely treat and Christmas. Making your own gingerbread is easy and by using cookie cutters, you can make beautiful Christmas tree decorations. Don’t forget to put a hole in the top of each decoration and buy some pretty ribbon to hang the decorations up with.

6. Christmas Tree Skirt
Christmas Tree Skirts are perfect to cover up unsightly tree stands or to brighten up your Christmas tree decorations. When choosing your Christmas tree skirt, you want to make sure the skirt is big enough to cover the tree stand however it shouldn’t be wider than the average width of the tree branches and also ensure that the skirt won’t be near an area where there is a lot of travel as it may trip people up. If you can’t find a christmas tree skirt you like, remember they are quite easy to make yourself.

7. Candles
In the Victorian era people used to decorate Christmas trees with candles. If you’d like to have candles on your Christmas tree you will need to buy special weighted candle stands to ensure the candles stand upright on your tree. Naturally it is dangerous to use candles on Christmas trees therefore they should only be used unlit.

8. Chocolates
If you are going to have children visiting your home over the Christmas season, chocolate Christmas tree decorations always go down well. There are a lot of different chocolates to choose from, all of which will be wrapped in foil to ensure they stay fresh and hygenic.

9. Christmas Tree Birds
Birds are becoming a popular theme for Christmas tree decorations. Adding bird ornaments brings your Christmas tree to life thanks to the colours, and helps bring the feel of winter indoors without the temperature! Many places sell bird ornaments, or you can make your own origami birds and decoate them with ribbon, yard and glitter.

10. Alternative Fairies
The top of the tree is just as important as the decorations on the branches. This Christmas is a great time to update your Christmas tree look by buying a new fairy to top your tree.

I add pet treats to my Christmas tree, although you have to be careful that the cats don't try and climb up the tree to get them :)
