Coloured Contact Lenses

Coloured contact lenses are starting to become very fashionable and from as little as £9 per pair, expect to see a lot more of them in the future!

The basic type of coloured contact lenses just changes the colour of your eyes.Coloured contact lenses can subtly enhance the natural colour of your eyes or change them completely. Colours include the 'normal' range of eye colours such as hazel or blue, through to colours such as violet, bright green or hot pink.

Three tone lenses are most popular as they provide a more subtle change of colour. However they are more expensive than the single tone lenses as they incorporate three colours. Single tone lenses give a big colour change to the eyes. People with light coloured eyes can get away with most colours, however people with dark coloured eyes may find single tone lenses are better. The actual colour shading provided by coloured contact lenses will vary according to your natural eye colour.

However if you are looking for something a little more flamboyant there are coloured contact lenses available which are patterned. These can include things such as making your eyes look like cats eyes (yellow iris with a 'tall' pupil), a white iris with a black pupil, or patterns on the iris.

Coloured contact lenses are perfect for ensuring you fully accessorise your outfit. They are also perfect if you are heading out to a fancy dress party. Most can be worn up to 30 times if looked after correctly so you can wear them to multiple parties. The only downside is that these lenses will not perform any sort of power correction so if you already wear standard contact lenses or glasses, once your have put these coloured lenses in, you will also need to wear glasses in order to see correctly.

Whatever sort of coloured contact lenses you buy it is really important to buy ones which conform to appropriate guidelines e.g. those supplied by the EU or the FDA. This is to ensure that you buy a good product that won't hurt your eyes. When wearing the contact lenses if you experience any form of discomfort it is important to remove them immediately to ensure you do not damage your eyes.
