Sunglasses To Suit Your Face Shape

Compare Sunglasses prices onlineAlthough it hasn’t been the greatest weather of late, sunglasses are still one of the must-have accessories for both men and women alike.

Sunglasses not only help to protect the sensitive eye area from the sun, they are also a fantastic fashion accessory that can dramatically change the look of a person in an instant. The key to buying sunglasses is to make sure that you always buy a pair that will offer you protection against

However sunglasses are not always an easy purchase to make and you should always try and buy a pair of sunglasses that match your skin tone and facial shape as well as your sense of style and fashion – after all, there’s no point buying a pair of sunglasses to suit your face if the style is completely incongruent with your personality.

Sunglasses For Round Faces
If you have a round face with a wide forehead and a rounded chin, sunglasses with an angular shape are a good move as they help to break up the roundness of your features. It is also worth looking for sunglasses that are wider than they are deep because round faces tend to be short and deep glasses will hide more of the face and make it appear even shorter; conversely, glasses that aren’t as deep will elongate the face slightly.

Sunglasses For Heart-Shaped Faces
If you have a fairly large forehead with a neat, narrow chin, your face will suit both round and angular sunglasses. This is because your face contains both angular and rounded shapes and can therefore take either style. However avoid sunglasses that are wider at the top than the bottom as this may make your face look too top-heavy.

Sunglasses For Oval Shaped Faces
People with oval shaped faces are often considered lucky as they are said to have the most ‘balanced’ face shape. Most people with oval shaped faces can carry off most styles of sunglasses because of their classically shaped face.

Sunglasses For Square Shaped Faces
People with square shaped faced normally have a wide, deep forehead with a wide jawline and square chin. This means the face is fairly angular which means rounded sunglasses are the best choice to help soften the face.

Sunglasses For Oblong Shaped Faces
People with oblong shaped faces normally have quite a tall face. Wider framed sunglasses tend to look better than narrow framed sunglasses as they break up the length of the face somewhat. Square sunglasses should be avoided as they tend to accentuate the angular features of the face. Small and narrow shaped sunglasses should also be avoided.

General Sunglasses Shopping Tips
- Aviator sunglasses and rimless sunglasses tend to suit most face shapes.
- Your eye should always be in the middle of the sunglasses lenses – both horizontally and vertically.
- The edge of the sunglasses frame should be slighly wider than the widest part of your face.
- Paler skin tones tend to suit warmer coloured sunglasses frames such as gold, tan and pink.
- Darker skin tones tend to suit coloured frames in black, silver and white.

When shopping for sunglasses, it is a good idea to try on several pairs because even if you find a pair of sunglasses that ticks all the boxes, they may not look great on your face. Only by trying on several pairs can you really work out what style completely fits the shape of your face and your own unique style. If you wear your hair in several different styles, don’t forget to try the sunglasses on with each different hairdo.
